The Drakenstein Animal Clinic, located in the Drakenstein within the Western Cape, showcases Arch on Main Architects’ expertise in veterinary clinic architecture and medical facility design. This purpose-built animal health facility was carefully designed to accommodate both public-facing retail functions and highly specialised veterinary medical operations within a single, efficient building.
As a contemporary veterinary clinic in Drakenstein, the project required the seamless integration of a veterinary retail shop and a fully operational animal hospital. The entrance opens into a modern, well-planned veterinary retail space offering premium pet food and animal care products. This welcoming front-of-house environment enhances the client experience while remaining clearly separated from the clinical and surgical zones to ensure hygiene, privacy, and operational efficiency.
The back-of-house veterinary clinic design prioritises clean circulation, practical workflow, and medical-grade functionality. The facility includes advanced consultation rooms, dedicated examination spaces, a fully equipped surgical theatre, and integrated radiology facilities, all designed to meet the standards of modern veterinary healthcare architecture. Spatial planning carefully considers staff workflow, patient movement, infection control, and ease of access.
This project reflects Arch on Main Architects’ capability in designing veterinary clinics and specialised medical buildings in the Western Cape, delivering functional, efficient, and contemporary animal healthcare environments that elevate both patient care and client experience.
