The design responds to the unique character of the valley, drawing inspiration from its vineyards, mountainous landscape and long-standing winemaking heritage. The new tasting room was conceived as a welcoming space where visitors can experience the wines of Slanghoek Cellar while remaining closely connected to the natural surroundings.
Careful consideration was given to the relationship between the building and its setting, with the architecture creating opportunities to frame views of the surrounding vineyards and mountains. Natural light, materiality and open, inviting spaces contribute to an atmosphere that is relaxed yet refined, reflecting the hospitality and authenticity of the cellar.
The project brings a fresh architectural identity to the tasting experience while respecting the established character of Slanghoek Cellar. It provides a contemporary setting for wine tastings, gatherings and experiences, strengthening the connection between the cellar, its wines and the landscape from which they originate.
